It is that time of year when property tax bills will be arriving soon at a nearby mailbox. Along with that comes the guessing game of whether taxes will go up or down.

"WASHINGTON - A National Bureau of Economic Research study has concluded that while Build America Bonds have succeeded in their mission to lower financing costs for state and local governments, traditional tax-exempt bonds still offer more enticing after-tax yields to individual investors."

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Mississippi tax collections were above expectations in August, for the second month in a row. Department of Revenue spokeswoman Kathy Waterbury says all three major tax categories - sales, individual income and corporate income - were up for the month.
