Accused serial killer Nolan Ray George must undergo a preliminary exam next month to determine whether there is enough evidence to try him in the 1968 strangling of a Pontiac woman, a judge ordered Tuesday. George, 67, stood shackled and in bright orange jail garb before Pontiac District Court Judge Ronda Fowlkes Gross, who set an Oct. 19 hearing date.
