Microsoft Watch
This one is for my friend Diana:
"The so-called "lawful spy guide" is back up on the restored Cryptome watchdog site after Microsoft reverses its stance on copyright complaint."
WWW.YOUTUBE.COM writes:
With a restraining order in hand, Microsoft is working to take down the spambot, which has infected hundreds of thousands of PCs worldwide.
Cryptome.org, a security Web site that was removed from the Web amid a Microsoft-led Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) takedown notice, has been reactivated, according to the site host, though it will likely take some time for it to show up live.
Microsoft Corp. says it has agreed to an intellectual property licensing contract with Panasonic Corp., a deal that gives Panasonic access to technology that will help store more media content on consumer electronics.
Here is an intersting one:
"Microsoft moved the battle against spam-distributing botnets from cyberspace to the court room, winning a temporary restraining order shutting down nearly 300 domains thought to make up the command and control structure for the vast Waledac botnet."
Microsoft has won a court order to deactivate a "botnet," an army of tens of thousands of PCs around the globe infected with malicious code that allows them to be harnessed for nefarious purposes.
