It seems like everyone loves to hate credit-card companies, but some firms are more unpopular than others, and the industry as a whole faces a distrusting public.
New rules designed to protect credit card users from "unreasonable late payment and other penalty fees" come into force Sunday as a result of legislation passed last year.
The amount of credit card debt consumers are carrying dropped to an eight-year low and delinquencies continued to decline in the second quarter as consumers looked to shore up their savings.
"Credit card interest rates soared in the second quarter to a nine-year spike, according to the market research company Synovate."
